Error 2203: The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package occurs when installing or updating TurboTax for Windows:

If you are running antivirus, backup, or other security software you might see this error.

Solution

Windows 7 or Windows Vista: try right-clicking the TurboTax icon and select Run as Administrator.

If that didn't work, or if you're using Windows XP, follow these steps:

Log on to your computer with Administrator rights.
Temporarily disable your online backup or security software.
Install (or update) TurboTax.
Re-enable the backup or security software you disabled in Step 2.

If the problem persists while attempting to update through TurboTax, download and install a manual update instead.
