Error 1335 - Cabinet file is corrupt

The following error is displayed when installing TurboTax:

Error 1335. The cabinet file 'TurboTax.cab' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.

This error occurs when the TurboTax Installer cannot read the files, for example if the CD is damaged or dirty, or if the downloaded files are corrupted.

Solution

If installing from a CD:

  1. Check your CD and your CD drive.
  2. Try installing TurboTax from your hard drive instead of directly from the CD.
  3. Try installing the CD on a different computer, if one is available. If it installs successfully, the CD drive on the original computer is most likely at fault.

If installing from a download, delete the download by dragging it to the Recycle Bin, then download the program again.
