Error: "Failed to extract archive"

The Failed to extract archive error occurs when attempting to install a TurboTax software download or a manual update. It is caused by a damaged file that became corrupted while it was being downloaded.

Solution

  1. Delete the downloaded file.
  2. Turn off antivirus software.
  3. Disable your firewall.
  4. Download your TurboTax program or your manual update again. (Remember to re-enable your antivirus and firewall after a successful installation.)

If problems persist, you may need to restart your computer in selective startup mode to completely disable your virus-protection and firewall programs.
