You spoke and we listened!
You can now select which type of 1099 form you want to import.
Previously, importing 1099 forms was an all-or-nothing proposition; you either had to import all available 1099 form variations, or enter them all manually.
If you're using the TurboTax CD/Download software, make sure you update TurboTax so you can take advantage of this new feature.
How it works
Simple – when you choose to import from your bank or brokerage, just specify which 1099 forms you'd rather enter manually, rather than import.
Select your TurboTax version for instructions. Which one am I using?
TurboTax CD/Download software
- Open your return in TurboTax.
- Type 1099 import data in the search box (located in the upper right corner) and click Find.
- On the Import Summary screen, click Add Other Documents.
- On the next screen, select your bank or brokerage from the list, and then click the Manage Import Options button at the bottom.
- On the Manage Your Import Options screen, select No for any 1099 forms you wish to enter manually, and then click Continue.
TurboTax Online
- Sign in to TurboTax Online, and then select Tools in the upper right corner (look for the "hammer x wrench" icon).
- Click Topic Search in the Tools Center window.
- Type 1099 import data in the "I'm looking for" field and click Go.
