Open Your Tax Return in the TurboTax CD/Download Software

This article describes how to open your tax return file in TurboTax CD/Download software. If you're looking to access a TurboTax Online return, click here instead.

Double-clicking your tax return file to open it can sometimes result in Error 539. It is better to open your return from inside the TurboTax program.

To open your tax return, start TurboTax and then do one of the following:

On the Continue Your Tax Return screen, click the blue Continue button for the return you want to open.
- If you don't see your return listed here, click the Find a Tax File link, browse to your return, and then open it.
Or, choose Open Tax Return from the TurboTax File menu (Windows) or the TurboTax menu (Mac). Browse to your return and open it.
