Question: Is TurboTax for iPad a free application?
Answer: The app is free to download and try out. E-filing or printing requires a tax preparation fee per tax return.
Question: How do I download TurboTax for iPad Deluxe?
Answer: The TurboTax for iPad Deluxe app is free to download from the iTunes app store. Deluxe is the only version available from the App Store, however you may need a version with more features. Depending on your current year tax situation, TurboTax for iPad may offer you an upgrade while using the product.
Question: How do I pay for the tax preparation fee?
Answer: All fees for federal and state tax preparation are paid directly to the App Store as "In-App" purchases for each tax return. A valid iTunes account is required to download and pay.
Question: What versions of TurboTax does TurboTax for iPad support?
Answer: TurboTax for iPad supports TurboTax Deluxe, Premier, and Home & Business.
Question: Can I prepare more than one tax return with TurboTax for iPad?
Answer: Yes. You can prepare and file more than one set of federal and state tax returns on the same device, and each tax return requires a separate in-app purchase. However, there is a limit of five (5) tax returns that can be e-filed.
Question: Can I use TurboTax for iPad without an Internet connection?
Answer: Yes. You can start a federal and state return without an Internet connection, but you will need a connection to be able to do the following:
- Download all necessary TurboTax product updates
- E-file your completed tax return
- Import data from financial institutions
- Print a copy of your tax return for your records
Question: Can I e-mail my tax return?
Answer: No. We don't support e-mailing your return from TurboTax for iPad.
Question: My bank offers a discount on some TurboTax products. Does this include TurboTax for iPad 2011?
Answer: Currently, these discounts do not apply to our mobile offerings. Contact your financial institution directly for any TurboTax discounts that may be offered to customers. In most cases, you must log in to your online bank account to obtain the discount.
Question: I qualify for free IRS tax preparation. Does this include TurboTax for iPad 2011?
Answer: No, but we have a product designed specifically for this purpose. Qualified taxpayers can file their tax returns for free through TurboTax Online Freedom Edition 2011 at www.taxfreedom.com.
Question: Does TurboTax for iPad have a privacy policy?
Answer: Yes, every version of TurboTax takes great care to protect your info. You can review our Privacy Policy.
Question: Is TurboTax on the iPad secure?
Answer: Yes. Password protection and file encryption for .tax files are supported.
Question: I locked my tax return in the iPad and I forgot my password. How can I get my tax return?
Answer: If you forgot your password, you can still backup your tax return to your computer using iTunes.
Question: Where are my tax returns stored?
Answer: Copies of tax returns prepared with TurboTax for iPad (and TurboTax Desktop) are stored on the device which you used to prepare your return. Your TurboTax for iPad tax return is not stored online. If you used TurboTax for iPad, we strongly recommend that you back-up your tax return from your iPad to your computer for safekeeping. Currently, only TurboTax Online offers online storage of tax returns, which you can access by logging in to your TurboTax online account.

Answer: TurboTax for iPad supports importing your W-2s, stock sales, and other financial information from financial institutions.
Question: Can I export my .tax file from iPad to TurboTax for Desktop?
Answer: Yes, you can transfer .tax and PDF files from TurboTax for iPad by syncing to Apple iTunes on your computer.
Question: What formats can you export from TurboTax for iPad?
Answer: You can export your tax return as a .tax file or a PDF file.
Question: Can I print my tax return from TurboTax 2011 for iPad?
Answer: Yes. You can print your return as a PDF file. In order to print directly from TurboTax, you need to have an AirPrint compatible printer. Apple provides a list of AirPrint compatible printers at http://www.apple.com/ipad/features/airprint.html.
Question: I can't print or save my return as a PDF file. Why not?
Answer: If you wish to print or save your tax return as a PDF, you must first submit payment to the App store.
Question: I started my return on TurboTax Desktop. Can I upload my .tax file to my iPad and continue there?
Answer: If you already paid for TurboTax Desktop 2011, you will still be required to pay when filing in TurboTax for iPad, so we don't recommend it.
Question: I started my return in TurboTax Online. Can I open this year's return in TurboTax for iPad 2011?
Answer: Yes. You can move your tax return from TurboTax Online 2011 to TurboTax for iPad 2011.
Question: Can I move my tax return from TurboTax for iPad to TurboTax Online?
Answer: Currently, we don't support transferring your current year tax file into TurboTax Online. If you would like to prepare your tax return online instead, log in to TurboTax Online using your iPad's Safari Browser.
Question: Can you transfer .tax files from TurboTax 2010?
Answer: TurboTax for iPad 2011 now supports prior year transfer of your info from TurboTax CD/desktop. You can also transfer from TurboTax Online and TurboTax for iPad 2010.
Question: How do I download my TurboTax state software without an Internet connection?
Answer: TurboTax for iPad requires an Internet connection to download your specified state. Make sure you have an active network connection in Settings > General > Network.
Question: Will I get all of my state deductions and credits if I file my state return with TurboTax for iPad?
Answer: Yes. Based on the information you enter, you will get all the state deductions and credits you deserve in every version of TurboTax.
Question: Can I e-file my return from TurboTax for iPad ?
Answer: Yes. Both Federal and State tax returns can be e-filed with a network connect on an iPad.
Question: How many times can I e-file with TurboTax for iPad?
Answer: You can e-file up to five (5) tax returns on TurboTax for iPad. You will be charged for each tax return you e-file; e-filing a new return requires another in-app purchase.
Question: Can I pay to e-file my return if TurboTax is not downloaded on my iPad?
Answer: Yes. You can still e-file by going to the bottom of the Pay page on the TurboTax website and clicking the accept license agreement and full screen.
Question: How long will it take to get my tax return if I use TurboTax for iPad?
Answer: You'll get your tax refund about 10 days1 from the day your e-filed returns are accepted by the IRS. Enter your bank account info under "Direct deposit my refund" and your refund will be deposited to your account.
Question: Can I get my tax refund on a debit card?
Answer: Yes. If you prefer to have your tax refund deposit on a debit card, TurboTax for iPad will help you make that choice.
