TurboTax 2008 System Requirements

TurboTax for Windows (Download/CD)

Below are the minimum requirements for TurboTax 2008 software installed on a Windows computer. The 2008 versions are Basic, Deluxe, Premier, Home & Business, and Business. Go to to http://supportdetails.com/ view a snapshot of your current system environment (this will open in a new window).

Minimum System Requirements

Computer processor		 450 MHz 32-bit (x86)
Operating system Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4

Windows XP Home / Media Center Edition / Pro with Service Pack 2 (or higher)

Windows Vista Home Basic / Home Premium / Business / Ultimate

Notes: Administrative rights required to install and run TurboTax. TurboTax will run in 32-bit compatibility mode on 64-bit systems.
RAM 256 MB

Hard disk space*

* Must be on the same drive TurboTax is installed on

Federal: 500 MB

State: 15 MB

Plus up to 500 MB for Microsoft Internet Explorer and Microsoft .NET 2.0 with Service Pack 1, if not already installed
CD drive 2X CD-ROM drive
Monitor

800x600 screen resolution; 1024x768 or higher recommended Set your screen resolution
Internet 56 Kbps modem (high-speed connection recommended)
Other software

TurboTax will install these for you if needed:

  • Microsoft .NET 2.0 with Service Pack 1
  • Microsoft Windows Installer 3
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 6
  • Adobe Flash Player 9
  • Adobe Reader 8
 Printer Windows-compatible inkjet or laser printer 
 

Tip: If you are unable to bypass the system requirements screen when installing the CD, but you are sure your computers meets the requirements, browse to the TurboTax 2008 folder on the CD, then double-click the TurboTax Installer 2008.exe file to install.
 

TurboTax for Mac (Download/CD)

Below are the minimum requirements for TurboTax 2008 software installed on a Macintosh computer. The 2008 versions are Basic, Deluxe, Premier, and Home & Business. TurboTax Business is not available for Mac.

Note: TurboTax 2008 for Mac does not support Mac OS 10.3.x (or lower). If you use Mac OS 10.3.x or lower, TurboTax Online is an option for you.

Operating system Mac OS X (10.4 or higher)
RAM 256 MB
Hard disk space Federal: 225 MB
State: 30 MB
Federal plus State: 255 MB
