Colorado 2010: Form DR 1778 for Certain Credits Does Not Open

Colorado Form DR 1778 (e-filer attachment instructions) does not auto-open when e-filing and claiming certain credits on Colorado Form 104CR.

How to tell if you are impacted

You may be impacted if you claimed one of the following credits on Colorado Form 104CR - Individual Credit Schedule:

Credit for tax paid to another state (line 27)
School-to-career investment credit (line 33)
Low-income housing credit (line 39)

If you did not send follow-up paperwork to Colorado, you may have been denied one of these credits.

Workaround

To solve this issue:

If you used TurboTax Online, transfer your tax return to a TurboTax desktop product.
In TurboTax desktop (CD/download), click on the Forms icon to enter Forms Mode.
Under Colorado Individual forms, manually locate Form DR 1778
Click to open.
After you open Form DR 1778, TurboTax will update the filing instructions with information on the required paperwork and mailing address.
