Why Does TurboTax Easy Extension enter all 0s (zeros) in my Federal Extension Form 4868?

If you expect to get a refund for Tax Year 2011, to simplify the Extension filing process, TurboTax Easy Extension will submit all 0’s (zeros) in the Tax Extension Form 4868 for lines 4 through 7.

If you have a tax liability (the amount of tax the IRS will receive), but you have already paid in excess of this amount, your extension will be filed with all 0s (zeros) in the amounts fields, for simplicity.

When you file your actual Tax Return by the extended deadline (October 15, 2012), you will then account for the liability and the amount you have paid, to determine your actual refund amount.

No refund will be paid until you file your actual tax return forms by the extended deadline (October 15, 2012).
