How to Fix a Rejected TurboTax Easy Extension E-Filing
If your TurboTax Easy Extension e-filing is rejected, relax, we can help.
Note: TurboTax Easy Extension site will become available for the 2012 tax season in March, 2013
The two most common errors that cause an extension to be rejected are the following:
- A mismatch between your SSN and last name
- A mismatch between the Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) amount entered and IRS records
SSN/Name Mismatch: If you changed your name after you filed your last return, due to marriage, divorce, etc., you must report this to the Social Security Administration prior to filing your extension to prevent delays in processing your extension. For more information, visit the IRS page on Marriage, Divorce and Name Changes.
Incorrect AGI: IRS rejection code 0679 occurs when your 2011 AGI amount doesn't agree with what the IRS has on file.
