Message: "There is an update available..." when attempting to e-file

If your TurboTax software program is not up-to-date with the latest release, you may receive a message when you attempt to e-file your tax return. This message appears because one or more forms on your tax return have changed since you last updated. For example, we may have fixed a calculation error on one of the forms in your return.
- Windows – There is an update available for your version of TurboTax. Before you can file electronically, you'll need to get this update. To do this, go to the Online menu and select Check for Updates.
- Macintosh – Validation failed: There is an update available for your program. Before you can e-file, you'll need to get this update. To do this, go to the TurboTax menu and select Check for Updates.
