How to e-file your personal tax return

E-filing in TurboTax is easy – open your tax return, click the Print & File tab, and follow the on-screen instructions.

Make sure you continue through the screens all the way to the end. You need to click the green Transmit Returns Now button, pictured below, to e-file your return.

What happens next?

Assuming everything goes well, you'll eventually see a Transmission Successful screen. (Click here for help if it didn't go so well.)

After 24-48 hours, check the status of your e-filed return. Once you receive confirmation that your e-filed return was accepted, print a copy of your return for your records.
