You get the message Employer ID is invalid for electronic filing. You must enter a valid employer identification number when attempting to e-file.
TurboTax will display this error if there are alphabetical characters in the in the Employer's Federal ID Number field.
In most cases, the IRS and the state tax authority require that an EIN be formatted in all numeric characters whenever you e-file a tax return.
If your employer's federal identification number contains alphabetical characters, ask your employer's payroll department if a different, numeric EIN can be used so you can e-file. If none is available, you'll need to file a conventional paper return.
