Can I cancel a return I've already e-filed?

Nope. Transmitting your return is like dropping it in the mailbox, except you can't open the mailbox or chase down the mail carrier!
Once you click that Transmit Returns Now button, there is no way to stop the e-filing process or "recall" your tax return.
If you need to correct your e-filed return, start by checking its status.
- If your tax return has been accepted, you'll need to Amend your return.
- If your tax return has been rejected, you can make the desired changes, fix the reason for the rejection, and then resubmit your return. See Resolve an E-filing Rejection.
