Why was my bank account debited for TurboTax fees when I did not receive a refund?

When you e-filed your 2012 tax return, you chose the Refund Processing Service. You agreed to pay for TurboTax fees by allowing us to deduct these fees from your expected refund.

You also agreed to have your bank account debited if your refund did not pay your TurboTax fees. This can occur under any of the following circumstances:

  • Your actual federal refund was not enough to cover your TurboTax fees

  • Your federal return was rejected without being fixed.
  • You refund was withheld by the IRS to satisfy a debt. (To find out if this might have happened with your refund, you can contact the FMS at 1-800-304-3107.)

In either case, you had an outstanding balance due for TurboTax fees and your account was debited as part of our agreement with you.

Note: We did not charge you for Refund Processing, since you were unable to take advantage of that service.
