When you re-file your federal and state returns electronically, the following error occurs:
Validation failed: State Status: Duplicate Social Security Number - A return with this Social Security number has already been accepted by the government.
Solution
This error occurs if your e-filed state return has already been accepted.
If your federal return was rejected, you only need to re-file your federal return again.
Follow these steps:
- Select the File tab in TurboTax.
- On the Select the Returns You're Ready to E-file screen, be sure only your federal return is selected.
