  • Why am I not getting any e-file status emails or text messages?

Why am I not getting any e-file status update emails or text messages?

Normally, you can expect an email acknowledgement within 48 hours after e-filing your tax return.

If you haven't received it, there are other ways to check your e-file status to make sure your return was e-filed.

Why you are not getting our emails

  • Your email provider, or the spam/junk filter on your email program, is blocking our emails.
    • Look for the email in your spam or junk folder.
    • You can also try adding IntuitElectronicFilingCenter@intuit.com to your Safe Senders list.
  • You may have accidentally entered the wrong email address in TurboTax.
    • If that email address doesn't exist, the email doesn't go anywhere.
    • If somebody else owns that email address, they're probably wondering why they received this strange email from TurboTax. (Don't worry – the email only contains the first taxpayer's name entered on the return. It doesn't include Social Security numbers, addresses, account numbers, etc. nor does it mention any tax refund or tax owed amounts.)
    • Either way, you can check your efile status by clicking here and following the instructions.

I received your email, addressed to a stranger. Do I need to worry?

No. The intended recipient entered the wrong email address by mistake (yours) or mistyped their email address so that it exactly matches yours.

As it turns out, TurboTax has no way of verifying if the email address entered by a user is valid or correct.

You'll probably receive at least one more email pertaining to this person's e-filing. Just delete the emails and feel free to contact us if you have any concerns about your privacy.

About e-file status text messages

Starting in March of 2012, you'll also have the option to sign up for text messages regarding your e-file status. This new feature will be phased in over a period of several weeks, and will be available to all customers on March 22.

You'll get a text message once your return is accepted or rejected by the IRS or state agency. But unlike the email, you won't receive a text message acknowledging that you have e-filed.

If you signed up for text messaging but didn't get any, your return wasn't accepted/rejected yet, or you may have entered the wrong phone number in TurboTax. Regardless, you can check your efile status by clicking here and following the instructions.

And if you received a text message that doesn't belong to you, the intended recipient probably entered your number by mistake. No need to worry; refer to the section above for more information.
