"No status available" or "Cannot get status without an SSN" when looking up your e-file status
If you get the message No status available or Cannot get status without an SSN when checking your e-file status, it could be that your return was never e-filed, or you're looking up the status of the wrong tax return.
Solutions
No status available probably means that your return didn't transmit successfully. Try e-filing it again.
Make sure you click the green Transmit Returns Now button, pictured below.

If you're getting one of these messages while checking status through your TurboTax CD/Download software, make sure that you're using TurboTax 2012 (not a prior-year version) and that you have the correct tax file open. Both can be confirmed by looking at the top of your screen.
- Windows: Look at the very top of your screen, in the blue bar. You'll see the primary taxpayer's name and tax year in a format similar to this: TurboTax Deluxe 2012 - 2012 Smith J Form 1040 Individual Tax Return.tax2012.
- Mac: Look near the top of your screen, towards the center. You'll see the primary taxpayer's name and tax year in this format: John Smith 12.
If you're looking for status in the wrong tax return, open the correct one.
Tip: Did you change a taxpayer's Social Security number or an Employer Identification Number after e-filing? Try changing it back to the original number, then check your status again.
