What is a fellowship grant?

A fellowship or scholarship grant is paid by an educational organization to aid an individual in the pursuit of their educational study or research. It may take the form of payment such as a stipend or salary payment; a reimbursement or payment of expenses, such as travel expenses; or a credit or reduction against an existing term bill or amount owed by the individual to an educational organization.
