Education expenses that do not qualify even if they must be paid to the institution as a condition of enrollment or attendance include:
- Insurance
- Medical expenses (including health fees)
- Room and board or personal, living, or family expenses
- Transportation
- Cost of any non-credit course unless it is required by the student's degree program.
