What if the amounts reported in Box 1 or 2 are wrong?

The amounts reported in box 1 or 2 of Form 1098-T may be different from the amounts you actually paid (or are treated as having paid).  Don't worry however, TurboTax will ask you for the information necessary to make sure you get the correct amount of education credits.

What if I have Multiple/Corrected Forms 1098-T?

As a general rule, you should only receive one Form 1098-T from each educational institution.  If you receive a second Form 1098-T from an educational institution, take a careful look at both forms and identify the one that has the Corrected box checked in the upper part of the form.  Under these circumstances, you should only enter information from the form with the Corrected box checked in TurboTax, and ignore the other form.

If neither form has the Corrected box checked, take a careful look at the Filer information (including Service Provider/Acct. No) for both forms to see if they match.  If they are a perfect match, or if you are otherwise uncertain how to proceed, please contact the educational institution for an explanation before completing your return.

What if TurboTax tells me there is an error with the zip code on my Form 1098-T?

Sometimes, this error can occur when the zip code is correct, but other information on the form isn't. Make sure that the 2-letter state abbreviation is also accurate.

If the problem persists, simply delete the Form 1098-T and enter it again.
