Can I switch back or downgrade to a lower-priced version of TurboTax Online?

How did this happen?
The product you start is based upon your own personal selection. In addition, based on information you’ve shared about your unique needs and tax situation, TurboTax may offer or recommend one of our higher-value products when you start your tax return, or while you are preparing it. You may have accepted one of these recommendations to take advantage of additional features and tax guidance that better fit your tax situation.
TurboTax offers these product recommendations while clearly disclosing your options. We want you to use the version of TurboTax that best fits your tax situation, but the choice to upgrade – or not – is yours, as we never do that without your consent.
What are the benefits of staying in the product I am currently in?
TurboTax provides several products to help you easily prepare and file your return. The best product for you depends on your tax situation, help needs and level of tax preparation experience. If you select a TurboTax version that does not meet your needs, we offer you options to move up as you go.
If you think you want to use TurboTax Free Edition, please keep in mind that this version is for taxpayers with very simple returns (Form 1040EZ filers). In other words, this is a good fit for taxpayers who don’t need much help or guidance while preparing their taxes.
TurboTax Free Edition is not recommended for returning users, as it doesn’t transfer your tax information from last year. So if your situation is more complex, you want added guidance, or you’re a returning customer, TurboTax Basic or Deluxe are better choices for you, and we may have recommended these enhanced options to help you more this year.
