Issues When Importing or Creating Large Numbers of Broker Transactions
When attempting to import or manually create a large number of broker transactions, TurboTax may display an error message, slow down to unacceptable performance levels, and/or stop responding altogether ("freeze").
This occurs because TurboTax has limits to the number of financial transactions that you can import or create.
Click the appropriate section heading below for suggestions on how you can work around this limitation.
You may see a message similar to We notice you have more than 500 financial transactions to import. TurboTax Online wasn't designed to handle this many transactions if you import or create hundreds of transactions in TurboTax Online.
TurboTax CD/Download Software
If you attempt to import more than 2,000—2,500 financial transactions into your TurboTax software program, you may get a message indicating you've exceeded the number of transactions you can import.
TurboTax may also slow down to a crawl and may even stop responding, requiring a reboot. (This can also happen in the unlikely event that you've manually entered thousands of transactions.)
