When launching TurboTax 2012 for Windows, TurboTax crashes with error 18435218261.

Solution

This issue is related to accessing TurboTax files that are on a network drive blocked by a firewall. We ask that you disable any firewalls that are preventing you from accessing your tax files. If you are unable to do so, please copy your .tax2012 files to a local directory before editing and accessing them. If the issue continues, please uninstall (Windows | Mac) and reinstall (Windows | Mac) TurboTax and do not attempt to open any firewalled tax files.
