TurboTax Online for tax year 2011 is no longer available

After October 15, 2012 you will no longer be able to file your 2011 tax return using TurboTax Online.

Explanation

Every year, TurboTax Online shuts down in conjunction with the IRS e-filing shutdown, which occurs immediately after the mid-October tax filing deadline.

TurboTax Online for tax year 2012 will reopen on December 3, 2012, and 2012 returns can be e-filed in early January, 2013.

What happens to my return after the shutdown?

All completed TurboTax Online returns will be converted to PDF files, if they haven't been already. Completed means returns that were:

Can I still use TurboTax to prepare my 2011 or earlier tax return?

You sure can. If you still need to prepare a 2008–2011 tax return(s), you can purchase the TurboTax CD/Download software and file a conventional paper return.
