California 2010: Certain Customers May Have an Incorrect Credit related to Child Care Expenses

Certain customers may not have received the full Child and Dependent Care Expenses credit on their 2010 California tax return and may have overpaid their California taxes.

The issue has been fixed.

How to tell if you are impacted

You are affected if:

  • You filed a 2010 California tax return prior to January 22, 2011 using the TurboTax Online product AND
  • Your federal return included care provider information for the Child and Dependent Care Expenses Credit (Form 2441) AND
  • On your California return, you changed the address for one of the care providers AND
  • You received a TurboTax message that the expenses for that provider didn’t qualify for the California Child and Dependent Care Expenses credit.

If you are affected, you may have overpaid your California tax. You will need to amend your California tax return.

If you need to contact us, please use the phone number in the email from TurboTax and tell the representative you’re calling about the California: Child Care Expenses.
