Certain customers, who received a Residential Energy Savings Credit, may have an incorrect tax return
TurboTax has fixed this issue.
How to tell if you may be impacted
You may be affected if ALL of the following are true:
- You filed a federal tax return before February 12, 2011, AND
- You initially indicated that you and your spouse lived in separate homes and you entered residential energy improvements in both homes AND
- You returned to the residential energy step-by-step interview and said that you only had one home and didn’t remove the improvements that you entered for the second home AND
- You had an amount greater than $1,500 on Form 5695, Line 11.
If you are affected, you may have underpaid your federal tax. You will need to amend your federal tax return.
