Certain customers, who filed Married Filing Separate Combined Return and had Capital Gains and/or Losses, may have filed an incorrect state tax return.
TurboTax has fixed this issue.
How to tell if you may be impacted
You may be affected if ALL of the following are true:
- You filed a 2010 Montana state return prior to September 21, 2011 AND
- You filed your Montana return as Married Filing Separate Combined AND
- You had capital gains AND losses for both taxpayer and spouse on your Federal Schedule D AND
- You were allowed more than $3,000 loss for either taxpayer or spouse on your Montana Form 2, Line 13 (Capital Gain or Loss).
If you are affected, you may have underpaid your state tax. You will need to amend your state tax return.
