Federal Individual 2010: Certain Customers and Child Care Credit

TurboTax may have incorrectly calculated a credit for child and dependent care expenses for certain customers.

TurboTax has fixed this issue.

How to tell if you are impacted

You may be affected if ALL of the following are true:

  • You filed your 2010 federal tax return prior to February 17, 2011 AND
  • You entered child care expenses for a child or dependent who was not under the age of 13 at the end of 2010 AND
  • The child or dependent was not disabled.

If you are affected, your tax return includes an incorrect child care credit. If so, you need to amend your federal tax return.

You must also amend your state return if you filed a return in any of the following states:

Arkansas California DC
Delaware Hawaii Idaho
Iowa Kentucky Louisiana
Maine Maryland Massachusetts
Minnesota Nebraska New York
North Carolina Ohio Oregon
South Carolina Vermont Virginia
