Amending a 2009 Oregon Return: Joint Homeowners and Energy Credit Error

The State of Oregon allows you a 2009 state deduction for federal taxes paid on your 2009 federal tax return. If you amend your federal tax return and tax liability changes, you may need to amend your Oregon return also.
Amend your Oregon 2009 tax return
To amend your Oregon 2009 tax return:
- Open your Oregon return.
- Find the amendment form:
- Click on Topic List. TurboTax Users: Click on Tools>Topic List.
- Scroll down to State Taxes/ Oregon/ State Interview /Your Oregon Return/ Additional Forms You May Need/Additional Forms/ Amended Income Tax Return (Amended Schedule).
- Click on Amended Income Tax Return.
- Click Yes on the Filing an Amended Return window.
- Enter 2009 in the Report a Tax Year window, then click Continue.
- Click No on the Copy federal amended explanation? window. The About Your Oregon Amended Return screen appears.
- Do one of the following:
- If you paid a balance due on your original Oregon tax return, scroll down to Line 105, Amount of net income tax paid with the original return:
- Look at your original Oregon Form 40, line 49.
- If Line 105 does not match the original Oregon Form 40, line 49 amount, enter the correct amount.
- If you received a refund on your original Oregon tax return, scroll down to line 107, Income tax refunds received from original return:
- Look at your original Oregon Form 40, line 48.
- If Line 107 does not match the original Oregon Form 40, line 48 amount, enter the correct amount.
- If you paid a balance due on your original Oregon tax return, scroll down to Line 105, Amount of net income tax paid with the original return:
Print your amended Oregon 2009 tax return
To print your amended Oregon 2009 tax return:
TurboTax 2009 Desktop users
- Click on the Print & File tab.
- Click on Print/Save for Your Records.
- Click the Print Return button.
- In the Print window, under the Item(s) to print section, select All official forms required for filing.
- In the Print window, under the What will print section, clear the Form 1040: Individual checkbox.
- Select the Oregon Individual checkbox. If you filed multiple states, clear the checkboxes for the other states. Only Oregon Individual should be selected.
- Click the Print button and follow the on-screen directions.
- Do not mail any forms that say Keep for your records.
- You do not need to attach copies of income statements, such as a W-2 or a 1099.
TurboTax Online users
- Click on the Print & File tab.
- Click on Print/Save for Your Records.
- On the Print and Save Center screen, click on the Print Returns button.
- In the Print window, under the Item(s) to print section, select All official forms required for filing.
- In the Print window, under the What will print section, clear the Form 1040: Individual checkbox.
- Select the Oregon Individual checkbox. If you filed multiple states, clear the checkboxes for the other states. Only Oregon Individual should be selected.
- Click the Print button and follow the on-screen directions.
- Do not mail any forms that say Keep for your records.
- You do not need to attach copies of income statements, such as a W-2 or a 1099.
