Federal 2010: Required Minimum Distribution and Roth Conversion from Pension
Certain customers, who had a 1099-R reflecting a Required Minimum Distribution in addition to an amount converted from a Pension into a Roth account, may have filed an incorrect tax return.
TurboTax has fixed this issue.
How to tell if you may be impacted
You may be affected if ALL of the following are true:
- You filed a tax return prior to April 28, 2011, AND
- You had a 1099-R reflecting a required minimum distribution in addition to an amount converted from your pension to a Roth account, AND
- Your required minimum distribution was not included on Form 1040, Line 16b.
If you are affected, you may have underpaid your federal tax. You will need to amend your federal tax return and may possibly need to amend your state tax return.
