Our FREE Audit Support Center download was created by expert tax professionals to make it easy for you to identify the exact type of IRS letter you received and how to respond. Included free with all TurboTax personal tax products, it provides comprehensive step-by-step guidance you can use at any time. It will also help you find out why the IRS contacted you, determine what it means and prepare your next steps.
Audit Risk Meter
The TurboTax Audit Risk Meter gives you a visual indication of possible audit risk based on situations in your tax return that may trigger an audit. It will show whether your risk is high or low and provide trips to help reduce your chance of an audit. This is included FREE with all Deluxe, Premier, and Home & Business products.
Audit Defense
TurboTax Audit Defense provides full-service audit representation by a trained tax professional. We have teamed up with TaxResources Inc. to provide this audit representation service for those people who want to know that everything will be handled on their behalf, in the unlikely event of an audit. You will never have to meet with the IRS unless you want to (fees apply).
To qualify, you must successfully efile, print and mail your individual federal or state income tax return (with paid or qualifying free federal return) using TurboTax 2011. Claims must be submitted to Intuit within sixty days of the date you received your audit guidance by submitting a claim with the following documents (1) Audit Support Guarantee Claim Request Summary, (2) copy of your TurboTax proof of payment, and (3) IRS or State audit letter. Send it via U.S. Postal service to Intuit Inc., Returns Department, PO Box 19004, Greenville, SC, 29602, or send it via UPS to Intuit Inc., Returns Department, 112 Hidden Lake Circle, Duncan, SC, 29334. Please use a traceable mailing method and maintain copies of submitted items for your records. Claims of non-payment will require photocopy substantiation of all required items. Please allow up to 6 weeks for processing and delivery. If after 8 weeks you have not received your check, contact us. To validate your claim, and as a precondition of refund payment, Intuit may require your TurboTax 2011 data file and/or other supporting information such as copies of your printed tax returns.
